Big win for 2022 Pure Pitch Rally alum BestyBnB: the Kansas City startup just received the 2025 NAVC Gives Marquee Award and a $25,000 grant for its mission to keep pets and their people together during times of crisis.
BestyBnB’s platform helps social service agencies and shelters find temporary pet care for individuals facing domestic violence, mental health treatment or housing instability — situations where people often forgo critical support because they have no safe place for their pets. Since launch, the company has delivered 5,000+ safe nights for pets across 18 states, with a 100% reunification rate.
“This award helps create more awareness for our life-saving mission within the veterinary community, directly with the professionals who inspire us every day,” said co-founder Matthew Krentz. “With the support and assistance of veterinary professionals, we can bring our crisis-care platform and services to every community across the country.”
The honor came from NAVC Gives, a global awards program launched in 2023 with a $1 million commitment from the North American Veterinary Community to support innovative efforts improving the lives of animals and veterinary professionals. To date, NAVC Gives has awarded $90,000 to six recipients.
“BestyBnB is a shining example of what can be achieved when individuals are committed to tackling big problems with an innovative approach,” said NAVC CEO Gene O’Neill. “The NAVC is proud to recognize an organization that is leveraging technology in a way that will enhance the safety and well-being of so many people and the pets they love.”
