ShotTracker, a 2016 Pure Pitch Rally alumnus, scored an $11 million funding round, led by Evertz Technologies and Verizon Ventures. The startups’s technology places sensors inside basketballs and on players to capture gameplay data.
The Verizon connection offers 5G capabilities for ShotTracker’s sensors, as well as sponsor relationships with the National Basketball Association and National Football League. In partnering with Evertz, sensor data can be used to control broadcast cameras remotely to stay on top of the action.
